This study was carried out to analyze the socio-economic, cultural and environmental factors influencing household dietary practices in the Sia Health Zone. Analysis of household dietary practices in this health zone, located in the Kwilu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, revealed an alarming prevalence of child malnutrition, reaching 49.9%. This situation is exacerbated by socio-economic, cultural and environmental factors. Poverty was identified as a major cause, with limited access to nutritious food and health services, having an odds ratio (OR) of 2.36 (CI: 1.42-3.91, p < 0.000). Young mothers, often with less education, were at increased risk of malnutrition, with an OR of 4.52 (CI: 1.77-11.54). Families with unstable incomes and those relying mainly on agriculture faced significant challenges, with a chi-square of 30.409 for occupation. In addition, cultural beliefs influence dietary practices, often to the detriment of nutritional diversity, illustrated by an OR of 2.34 (CI: 1.55-3.53). The results underline the importance of improving nutrition education, increasing access to drinking water and strengthening health services to combat malnutrition. Practical recommendations include education programs targeting women and initiatives to diversify food sources to improve nutritional security in this rural region.
