Abstract

The aim of geophysics is to study the physical field at the surface of the ground or inside a cavity. To do this, it uses methods
such as gravimetry, seismic and DC electrical methods. These methods also have applications in other fields, particularly
civil engineering.
This involves geotechnical reconnaissance of the ground on which structures are to be built. This reconnaissance guides the
construction work.
Geophysics is also involved in the maintenance of structures, such as the diagnosis of dikes or the monitoring of dams and
bridges.
