Monkeypox is a viral disease very similar to smallpox and is still a major public health problem in developing countries, including the province of Sankuru, where we observed a high incidence of this epidemic due to the inadequate application of infection prevention and control strategies by hygienists in the response. The aim of this study is to understand the infection prevention and control strategies applied by hygienists in response to the Mpox epidemic in this province. Our research is qualitative in nature, based on the phenomenological approach, and is conducted with 10 hygienists who are obtained according to the needs of the study. To collect the data, we used the survey method, supported by the in-depth interview technique.
The results showed that the infection prevention and control strategies applied by hygienists in the response to the Mpox epidemic in Sankuru province by providers in the CTMPOX were standard and complementary precautions.
